It's very simple, just tell everyone what town you're from and maybe for how long you've lived there and where you were born etc. Or maybe some strange fact about your town I don't know! It's your choise I'll start off, I'm from Sweden from a town called Upplands Väsby, it's very close to the capital Stockholm and has about 38,000 inhabitants. I've lived here all my life but want to move to Stockholm, London or something later in life. It's a good town growing up in with close to the capital but it has a country feeling to it, but I don't want to live here forever. Upplands Väsby is not famous for a lot of things, just that it's the hometown of Swedens most successfull rockband in the 80's, Europe (you know Final Countdown? which by the way has been voted to the most annoying song in history ) and the biggest chocolate company in Sweden has the only factory here. Other than that it's a town you go through when going to and from the airport... So where's everyone else from?

I live in Iowa. There is nothing but corn fields as far as you can see! It is 5 hours to the nearest city, which is ( or should I say are, because all of these are the same distance from me) Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Kansas City. I love the people and the rural feel, but miss the fun stuff to do! I lived near Dallas for a couple of years, but missed family too much. I'm sure this would be too much for most of you, but my sister, Wendy, her twin and my middle daughter all live within 8 blocks of me and then my other sister and my parents live about a half mile!!! I love it, but I know it would drive most people crazy! Good thing we all like each other (most of the time)! ~Julie

Mikkeli is a nice town, I don´t have many complaints. I searched some info of Mikkeli through wikipedia, I was too lazy to think of anything by myself. Mikkeli is located in the province of Eastern Finland and it has about 48,600 inhabitants. Mikkeli was one of the headquarters of the Finnish armed forces during World War II. In recognition of this, the town's coat of arms incorporates a pair of crossed Marshal's batons, and the town was awarded the Cross of Liberty, 4th class, to be displayed with the coat of arms. So in short, I live in a very historical town. We have many things as a reminders of that fact, for example the university I study in is built around old army barracks, our lunch room used to be a horse stable or something like that. And I think that the same goes with our campus library. I like it, the old buildings are beautiful and they have a more special feeling than the new buildings. Mikkeli also has quite rich cultural life. There is annual International Ballet Festival and the concert hall Mikaeli provides the main venue for the annual Mikkeli International Music Festival, which attracts musicians and audiences from across Europe. For example Mariinsky Opera led by Valery Gergiev performs there regularly. And according to wikipedia: "Mikkeli is famous for its nightlife. There are a plenty of bars, pubs and clubs in it. The most popular clubs are Kharma, Vaakuna, Roller-Zic Zac and Amarillo." The others I know quite well but I still haven´t visited Amarillo. Have to do that sometimes in the near future. Home of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited national park in the United States. I live about 5 miles from Pigeon Forge, home of Dollywood and of course, Dolly Parton. I have lived here for over 14 years. I moved here to work in the family business, managing overnight chalet and cabin rentals. It is an awesome place to live in the spring, summer and fall. Winter is awful but then it is that way most places. Traffic can be a real bitch but you learn the back roads and threaten to shoot anyone that tells them to the tourists. I originally lived in West Tennessee. It is quite different from here. Flat as a pancake with no mountains and nothing at all to do. Jo Anna

Julie your life sounds very cosy with your family so near, as you said it's not for everyone including me, but it must feel... safe? Can't come up with the right word for it. Mikkeli, cute name! I've always thought I lived in a bigger town than you, don't ask me why I have no idea why I got that impression lol. My town also has a lot of history, it's an old wiking town with lots of remainings from that era. BK your town also feels like a place where everyone knows everyone, like in Steel Magnolias am I right? Love the southern accent, everyone sounds so polite!

I enjoyed reading each and every one of your posts! I am from San Jose, CA. Home to 978,000 people in this city alone. Doesn't even count the thousands in the metro area. This part of Northern CA is incredibly congested. Lots of people here! We are about 35 miles south of San Francisco. San Jose is in the heart of the Silicon Valley where Microsoft Corporation and Apple Computers were born. Where Bill Gates and Steve Jobs made their MILLIONS! I have lived here for 30 years. I was born in Lexington, KY but was brought to CA because my dad had a job offer at an electronics company in 1978 that he could not pass up. Plus, he always said he wanted to live "where the palm trees grow". So, here we are and here I've stayed! ~Anne

I moved up to Northern California for a couple of years when I was younger and tried living in San Francisco. It was too cold for me, so I moved back down the Hollywood and here I've stayed. The Los Angeles area is the Show Biz capital of the world, so you often see them making movies on location injust about any neighbourhood on just about any day of the week, not to mention there are huge movie stufios all over the area. The weather in Southern California is much warmer and less rainy than it is in Northern Calfornia. but during the rainy season we get rain, which causes mud slides and flooding. However, on the whole, we don't have a lot of excitement weather wise, unless we have an Earthquake. We basically have 2 seasons: Dry and Rainy. Right now, we're in the Rainy season, because it's windter. So far it's been a very warm dry winter, however in the last couple of weeks, we've been getting a lot of rain, which may make us catch up to the norm. Los Angeles is the 2nd largest city population wise in the US, but becaise it's spawling and spread out, it takes up a lot of miles, I think it takes up more space than New York, which is largest US City.
